At the end of 2021, Mary Ellen Domeier and Pat Herzog departed from the Board of Directors. Their leadership has been instrumental in the growth and development of New Ulm Area Foundation, Inc.
Mary Ellen Domeier was part of the Board of Directors at the inception of New Ulm Area Foundation in 1987, holding various positions including Chair. She helped research the community foundation concepts and ultimately formalize a relationship with the then named Minnesota Foundation.
We were very fortunate to have Mary Ellen return to the board three years ago to help establish the 501(c)(3) status for New Ulm Area Foundation, Inc. and assist with establishing active committees and essential policies. She has recently served as the Chair of the Governance Committee and the Development Committee, as well as many task forces.
Mary Ellen and her husband Robert are consistent contributors to NUAFI. In addition to routine gifts, they frequently use the Foundation to memorialize deceased friends and family. The endowment structures assure that gifts truly keep on giving. The four pillars that give purpose assure that grants will always address needs in those important areas.
Pat Herzog has been on the NUAFI Board of Directors for nine years. In his first year, he was on the Grants committee, and then followed with eight years on the Executive Board. Pat was Treasurer for six years, Vice President (2020) and President his final year (2021). Pat was also the Chair of the Finance/Investment Committee when NUAF became a 501(c)(3), and was very involved in the process of selecting a local advisor to help with our endowments and investments.
Pat is happy with the growth of NUAFI both financially and in the terms of being more involved in the New Ulm area. It has been his pleasure to meet donors and grant recipients over the years. Pat is honored to have the community put their trust in NUAFI.
We thank Mary Ellen and Pat for their dedicated years of service on the New Ulm Area Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors. Thank you for your leadership and your dedication to our community.
