“Life Altered” art show opens at The Grand

The Grand Center for the Arts and Culture and the New Ulm Area Foundation are collaborating to bring Patrice Abbe’s art collection named “Life Altered” to the Art Center.  The show opens this Friday July 11, 2014 with a reception and meet the artist event at the 4 Pillars Gallery on the second floor of the Grand.  These works are a powerful expression of a personal loss experience.

As part of this show the artist along with 3 other artists and teachers will present a workshop on Saturday July 26, 2014 10-3.  This workshop is an opportunity for attendees to use art as a healing tool or help to better understand grief.  Up to 45 people will be able to attend this event at no charge.  Anyone interested can call the Grand at 507-359-9222 to register.

“When we heard Patrice’s story about losing her son on the 4th of July it resonated for us with our own New Ulm losses” said Donna Lambrecht, President of the New Ulm Area Foundation.  “We couldn’t help but think of artist Bobbi McCrea, her family and the many other losses suffered each year with accidents and suicide.  If we can help to understand the grief and heal, we can better create ongoing legacies in our community.”
